About NOLA Resources
New Orleans is a beautiful place. This web page was created so everyone who lives here can experience New Orleans with the highest quality of life possible. Here you will find resources for a tremendous number of services and populations. Check out the "Services" tab to look at all the services broken down into category and population. Check out the "NOLA Program" tab for a direct link to the website of all the programs featured on this site.
New resources are added as often as they are received and/or identified. Links are updated as needed at the beginning of each month. If you're trying to visit a program's page, but the site states an error that the page is not found, please send an email! The goal of NOLA Resources is to be as up-to-date and all-encompassing as possible. This cannot happen without your input and help!
Links & website under construction as of August 2022.
About the Creator
Hi! My name is Ellen, and I am an occupational therapist in New Orleans. For my final fieldwork rotation before graduation, I worked in the realm of mental health, recovery, and transition with various at-risk populations. Part of my work included providing occupational therapy services for the guests at the Rebuild Center - a day program for individuals who are homeless. I chose this area of work because I realized there was a gap in services for the homeless population, as well as many other at-risk populations in the New Orleans area. While people are being rapidly re-housed and constantly relocated to different parts of the city, there is no person that is taking the time to help these people develop and re-establish basic life skills that allow them to live independently, support themselves and their families, and be a positive contributor to society. At the Rebuild Center, I lead two groups a week focusing on fundamental life skills that many people take for granted: things like keeping yourself motivated, creating goals for yourself, stress- and self-management, healthy living, budgeting, building a resume and so on. Additionally, I visited various facilities, companies, non-profits, and groups in New Orleans that offer services for at-risk populations, so I could learn more about what they offer firsthand, plus learn about the lives of the people they work with.
